LaShonda currently serves as the Lead Consultant and Executive Director at Strong Minds Consulting Firm, which she founded in 2013. Her firm was born out of love to serve the non-profit and education sectors in building out organizational infrastructure and wholistic supports for marginalized and underserved youth. For the past decade, LaShonda has ascertained multiple ways to serve her wide spectrum of clients ranging from establishing career pathways and Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, to developing multi-year strategic plans and/or forming a theory of change. Notable clients across the US include Cornell University, Reading with Relevance, and Peralta College District.​

LaShonda is also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), serving within her private practice.  She specializes in Crisis, Stress, and Depression Management as well as Suicide Prevention and Intervention. Group Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are the techniques she primarily uses to support her clients. This lens has also contributed to the successful implementation of socio-emotional, health, and wellness supports for the clients she serves in her consulting firm. ​

 

LaShonda participates on numerous committees and boards dedicated to justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. As a result, LaShonda leads all of her work with those important attributes at the helm. She also provides trainings and workshops at various conferences across the nation, focusing on the successful implementation of career pathways for relegated youth and young adults, creating positive workforce readiness and work-based learning experiences, while also reducing disparities in education and workforce for Black, indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). ​

 

Finally, her academic proficiency, coupled with real-world, professional acumen, LaShonda facilitates impactful outcomes for individuals & organizations. Whether it is a small business or a multinational corporation, she helps to manage and execute at various levels and under various contexts. As a passionate practitioner serving across the United States, LaShonda has hundreds of hours of training in a plethora of facilitation methods, leadership practices, and executive coaching models.​
